How to INCREASE / Boost Nokia N9's Sound Volume!

We have been using Nokia N9 since couple of weeks and when we tried to compare its sound volume with our Nokia N8, we found it definitely lower than N8. Since this isn't a big issue, but there are times when we have to travel and find it difficult to hear the ringer volume on Nokia N9. So we came across a solution which was originally shared by rexii23 on official MeeGo forum. This fix / solution would help to boost up the Nokia N9's volume up-to 30% for Ringer, System Sounds, Music and other sound related applications.

Pros of this Fix:
You'll be able to hear the ringer of Nokia N9 in noisy areas.
You'll be able to play and hear loud music.
Cons of this Fix:
Its not a permanent fix and need to be applied every-time you'll turn on and off your device.

Enable Developer Mode: Go to Settings > Security > Developer Mode and slide the developer mode toggle to the on position. Take note of and accept the warning. The first time you enable developer mode the N9 will download some files (so you need a network connection) and reboot.







Launch the Terminal: When Developer Mode is enabled, a Terminal icon app appears on the N9′s Applications home screen (image below, left). Tap it to launch the terminal.





The shell prompt will change from $ to # to indicate that your are now the root user.
Now write the command alsamixer on Terminal after gaining root permissions.
You have to reach PreDriv, for that purpose you have to use the right arrow key until you reach the PreDrive. For achieving the arrow keys, you probably need to swipe left to right on the Terminal.
Now use the UP Arrow to increase the level of volume, using the DOWN Arrow will decrease the volume.U can also use K or J




You need to hit ESC key and the changes would be saved. (Note that these changes would vanish away upon restarting your Nokia N9.)
